Finding speedrun-ready seeds
A fast start is mostly about logistics near spawn: food, beds, iron, and a quick route to the Nether. The classic recipe speedrunners look for is a village with a ruined portal right next to it — the village supplies beds and food, the portal supplies free obsidian and sometimes gold gear.
The core search
Use the Speedrun start preset in the seed finder, or build it manually:
- Village within ~400 blocks of spawn — closer is better; every hundred blocks of running costs 20–30 seconds.
- Ruined Portal within ~256 blocks of the village — chained to the village, not to spawn, so the pair is actually walkable.
This combination is common enough that a search finds matches within seconds, so feel free to tighten the radii until spawns get really good.
Upgrading the start
Once basic matches are easy, add conditions one at a time and watch the difficulty estimate:
- Lava + water starts: desert biome near spawn often means surface lava pools for a fast portal without mining obsidian.
- Fortress access: you can't mix dimensions in one search, but a Nether search (switch dimension to Nether) for Fortress within 300 of spawn tells you what's waiting on the other side of your portal at (0, 0).
- Stronghold distance: the first stronghold ring sits 1,400–2,700 blocks out. Adding Stronghold within 2,000 of spawn biases toward short end-game travel.
Checking a specific seed
Got a seed from a friend or a video? Switch the seed input to One specific seed, paste it, and SeedForge will verify the conditions and show every found structure on the map — with exact coordinates to plan your route.
